Response to Recent Comment Activity

@AtlantaTeacher1976 -- 1:1 computing doesn't make things less 'human'. In fact, quite counter-intuitively perhaps, it's taken away much of the busywork (most of which I consider very dehumanizing) and has opened up more time for deep listening and discussion in class. In fact, I've gotten better over the last two years at really knowing and understanding my students needs than I ever was before blogging. And that's because in the student blogs, I can read and watch their development, interests, and motivations evolve over time on an ongoing basis.

And, yes, 1:1 computing is not the norm. But it will be. There is no question about that.


@Knaus -- You are absolutely right about the time thing. In my own case, I skip lunch and I don't sleep. But I wouldn't advise that for everyone.

  1. Ha, sleep is over rated. I'm a teacher with two small children at home. Between reading assignments, planning the next day, feeding a baby and covering boo-boos on a a 4 year old....
